Through serving and giving, we are always looking for ways to show God's love to the Island.
Food Hampers
Last Christmas we helped those in need by giving them a hamper of food, filled with donations from church members. We are hoping to continue to give such hampers throughout the year.
Families and Children
Every year we underake many activities to serve families and children on the Island. Recent activities have included -
We hosted a
family fun day
at Alpha Grove community Centre on the Barkantine Estate. This was a great success and over 200 people joined in with games, craft and a bouncy castle.
October 31st was an opportunity to throw an alternative party to the usual Halloween theme. We called it a ‘
Bright party
’ and had a wonderful evening of games, craft and food with many local families attending.
Our
Christmas craft afternoon
, again at Alpha Grove Community Centre was a great success. Much creating took place by the children and fun was had by all!
We also we serve islanders every year by offering to
wrap their Christmas presents
outside our local Asda the Saturday before Christmas and singing them some carols while they were waiting.
Marathon Sunday
On Marathon Sunday the road to the Docklands Settlement Centre where we meet for church is closed off. So, we take the church to the marathon, and help to run the water station outside Mudchute DLR station.
Whilst most of the church (and friends and family members) do the hard work of taking the tops off water bottles and handing them out to the runners, the worship band regale passers-by with worship songs and other music.
